Anomally
We’ve got a whole lot of Death and Black Metal for you guys in our line up for the next bit, I think. I could be wrong I guess, which is pretty sad since I’m supposed to be on top of these things. No matter, though, because tonight’s band is definitely Death Metal, with enough Gothic Metal in there to throw them into two genres.
Name: Anomally
Genre: Death/ Gothic Metal
Country of Origin: Portugal
Website: http://www.anomally.com/
We’re back tonight with a real, non-technical update, because I’m pretty sure you guys don’t want to hear all of that boring junk anyways, right? Alright, yes, some of it can be pretty exciting sometimes (although pretty rarely with our site I guess), and last night’s was pretty important. Tonight, however, we’re back to our regularly scheduled programming of Metal Metal and more Metal. It would be pretty stupid to have a site called uuMetal and not have metal on it, really.
Tonight’s band is a Gothic Death Metal band from Portugal. They’ve got a bit of an alternative sound to them, and sometimes it sounds almost a little exotic. Mostly, though, Anomally’s just some nice heavy growl filled metal mixed with normal vocals and pretty heavy guitar to get your heart pumping and the mosh pits moshing.
You wouldn’t know it by listening to the intro of ‘I am God,’ but they really do get pretty heavy. There’s nothing terribly fast paced about them, they’re definitely no thrash band, but they’ve got a pretty steady sound throughout most of their stuff.
Anomally can be a little generic at times, but they throw in that odd guitar solo, or that little piece of something that mixes everything really well and brings out all of their instruments so that it’s an easily looked over almost-fault. After all, it takes years and years for a lot of bands to find their niche. I’m pretty certain it isn’t going to take these guys nearly that long.
The guitar is pretty good majority of the time. Occasionally though, they rip out some very cool stuff that pushes them beyond pretty good. It can get a little repetitive at times, but they mix in the other instruments so it’s barely noticeable.
Vocals mix Gothic, Alternative, clear lyrics with growling to make a blend that has some serious potential. It needs a little fine tuning, but they’re definitely good on their own, and they do seem to fit well together. There’s just the tiniest hint of messy when they come together that is easily tightened up. The vocalists sound good together, though.
The synth gets pretty interesting in a few parts (see that intro I mentioned early, very catering to their Gothic side) and while it tends to blend into the background a little bit, it’s still some good much more than decent stuff.
These guys all have a lot of talent, and they pull it together pretty well. They sent me a picture along with their music, but I don’t have the tech know-how to get it up right now. Maybe we’ll have an update in the future that’s just some cool band images for you all to enjoy. It’ll be like a picture-book update. No reading involved (do I hear rejoicing?).Anyhow, go download their music, check out their site and have a nice, almost mid-week night chilling to metal like me.
